The stock markets which have opened below yesterday’s closing have ended in the red at the end of today’s trading session. The BSE Sensex has shed 168.71 points (down by 0.95 p.c) and closed at 17583.97. The NSE NIFTY has lost 45.45 points (down by 0.84 p.c) and closed at 5339.75.
All major sectoral indices like Bank (down by 1.20 p.c), Auto (down by 1.05 p.c), Energy (down by 0.89 p.c), FMCG (down by 0.40 p.c) , IT (down by 0.81 p.c) and Infrastructure (down by 0.89 p.c) were down.
Top gainers of the day at NSE NIFTY are Maruti (up by 5.20 p.c and closed at 1,320.00), Ambuja Cement (up by 3.27 p.c and closed at 166.00), Siemens (up by 2.48 p.c and closed at 816.00), Reliance Power (up by 2.22 p.c and closed at 122.10) and Cairn (up by 1.84 p.c and closed at 375.80).
Top losers of the day at NSE NIFTY are DLF(down by 6.40 p.c and closed at 212.00), Mahindra & Mahindra (down by 3.94 p.c and closed at 681.85), IDFC (down by 3.75 p.c and closed at 136.10), BHEL (down by 3.06 p.c and closed at 297.95) and Axis Bank (down by 3.04 p.c and closed at 1,141.95).
