Google is celebrating the 126th birthday of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe with a Google Doodle and have displayed across the world, who is known popular and known well for mastering the art of modern architecture. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is commonly referred and addressed with his surname ‘Mies’.

Mies born on March 27, 1886 in Germany, before he moved to Berlin he use to work in his father’s stone carving shop where he fall in love with carving and architecture and later he worked in several local design companies. After moving to Berline he joined with interior designer Bruno Paul and he raised with his talent by getting it recognized and soon started his independent professional career (freelancing) and use to design upper class homes and many popular buildings including Seagram Building, Museum of Fine Arts at Houston, National Gallery at Berlin, 860–880 Lake Shore Drive, Farnsworth House are the brain child’s of his architectural work.

Mies architecture include the use of modern materials such as industrial steel and plate glass which are used to define interior spaces and his work towards the minimal framework of structural order balanced against the implied freedom of free-flowing open space is referred to be the greatest innovations in modern day’s architecture, Mies used to refer his his buildings as “skin and bones” architecture.

Mies died at the age of 83 in Chicago, Illinois, USA on August 17, 1969 and buried near Chicago’s other famous architects in Chicago’s Graceland Cemetery.
