Ace cricketer and ex vice-captain of the Indian cricket team, Yuvraj Singh has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing treatment at the Cancer Research Institute in Boston, USA.
It has been widely reported in the media that Yuvraj Singh is suffering from lung cancer, but, doctors have clarified that Yuvraj is suffering from a cancer called seminoma rather than lung cancer as reported earlier.
“Yuvraj has a rare type of seminoma which is completely curable,” said Dr. Nitish Rohatgi in Delhi, further adding that the malignant tumor is between the lungs and not inside the lungs.
Seminoma is a completely curable cancer and in Yuvraj Singh’s case it is still in the first stage making it all the more easier to treat. Doctors have informed that Yuvraj will be able to return to the field in 10 weeks time.
Speaking of his son’s illness, Yuvraj’s father Yograj Singh rued, “I don’t want to blame anyone. But I feel that things could have been different today. If you recall, two years back when Yuvi was playing in a T20 match at Mohali and played match-winning innings, in which after hitting a six he came running towards Suresh Raina and could be seen coughing badly.”
Meanwhile, Ajay Maken, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports has tweeted,” Wish Yuvraj a speedy recovery! Asking officials to find the quantum and nature of help required. Government shld & will help him.”
