BSE Sensex and NSE NIFTY have ended in the red after 5 continuous days of gains. The Sensex slid down by 84.86 points (-0.48 p.c) and closed at 17622.45 while the NIFTY was down by 26.5 points (-.0.49 p.c) and closed at 5335.15.
Metals, IT, Infra and Realty indices were down while Energy, FMCG and Bank indices were the saving grace. Heavyweights like BHEL, SBI, Infosys and Bharti all performed badly.
Kotak Bank (up by 2.63 p.c and closed at 534), Cairn Energy (up by 2.45 p.c and closed at 365.75), ITC (up by 1.51 p.c and closed at 205.45), Reliance (up by 1047 p.c and closed at 845.25) and Ranbaxy (up by 1.40 p.c and closed at 456) were the top performers of the day at NIFTY.
BHEL (down by 4.64 p.c and closed at 258.85), JP Associates (down by 4.32 p.c and closed at 74.20), Tata Steel (down by 3.76 p.c and closed at 449.70 ), Reliance Communications (down by 3.34 p.c and closed at 91.20) and Mahindra & Mahindra (down by 3.27 p.c and closed at 687) were the top losers of the day at NIFTY.
