Shaadi.Com one of the most popular matrimony websites in India have launched a new online game “AngryBrides” which highlights the problems of dowry system. The game is inspired by most popular social game ‘Angry Birds’ and in AngryBrides players will be asked to attack the grooms appeared in three avatars (a doctor, an engineer and a pilot) who are demanding dowries starting from Rs. 15,00,000 and the player wins virtual money which is intended for virtual anti-dowry fund whenever he hits the groom.

AngryBrides is targeted for Indian audience where 1 dowry death is taking place for 4 every hours (as stated in NCRB’s 2003 statistics) and hopes that it will create awareness among the people who are seeking dowry for marriage and in addition states that “Shaadi.Com has always believed that marriage is an institution of love, where there is a place for togetherness, mutual understanding, family values and emotional support but not for dowry!”.

As stated earlier each level of the game sports grooms being tagged heavy dowry price tag and the player needs to hit the groom with the any weapon of his choice and for each strike the price tag of the dodging groom goes down and the decreased amount will be added to anti-dowry fund, Optionally players will be able to publish these scores/anti-dowry fund details over their Facebook wall or could post the same on their Twitter timeline.
