The buzz is getting bigger day by day. Ace director Shankar is all set to start his next film with Vikram, with whom he had delivered a stupendous hit like ‘Aparichithudu’. Shankar had already met Asin who had shown her interest to work in this project. Who would say no if Shankar gives a chance in his movie considering his unimitable track record. The film is said to be titled ‘Elections’ in Telugu and ‘Thendral’ in Tamil as the Tamil government does not allow for English titles. Sources say that this film is based on election commission and cash for votes.
Shankar’s all films were big budget extravaganzas. The Ace director is said to have zeroed in on a big producer who will not ask questions about budget. This combination of Shankar and Vikram will start rolling by the last quarter of the year if things goes well. Vikram has to complete ‘Thaandavam’ first and then he will join Shankar, who has already completed fixing locations.
The last time these two extra ordinary artists worked together they created a magic on-screen called ‘Aparichitudu’. Shankar projected the extra ordinary acting skills of Vikram in this film. But these days, his creations are not able to earn audience applause. His much hyped Rajinikanth starrer ‘ROBOT’ has created a history in Indian film industry not only technically but also commercially but was not up to the mark of the audience appreciation. His recent film, a remake of ’3 Idiots’ failed and it was mere below average flick both in Telugu and Tamil.
Now, Shankar is back to his genre of making films targeting social issues. His new script deals with the loopholes of Politics, this time. The title ‘Elections’ itself is in such a way that highlights the meaning of Indian Politics. With new talents coming up and making their mark in the Industry, Shankar has to concentrate on this film in order to sustain his numero uno position in this industry. Shankar had already ruled out possibilities of another remake post Nanban when the news of Vikram signing up under the director came as a pleasant one.
Noted authors Suresh and Bala who write with the nick-name ‘Suba’ would be penning the film’s script and dialogues. Composer AR Rahman who delivered the blockbuster hit Enthiran, confirmed his teaming up with Shankar early on. Rahman calls this year his comeback to Tamil movies as he has mega projects lined up, including Mani Ratnam’s ‘Kadal’ along with the Shankar’s film. Cinematographer PC Sriram will handle the cinematography wing for this political thriller.
